
Hi! Welcome to the world of computer/video gaming. It’s a fantasy world full of fun and excitement and you are gonna be the creator of interactive entertainment i.e. games. So far you must have learnt the art of animation and multimedia, now it’s time to combine this art with programming to craft wonderful games. Game Development is a very young form of entertainment. It came into existence after advent of advance computing but now it is giving competition to film industry which is one of high earning industry. Making games is not tough or difficult at all. The most important thing is to have an idea and to know how you can implement that idea. You must be aware of your capabilities that how you can convert your idea into a game. You would have to set some goals, a story or idea, rules, develop some characters and/or props, environment, user interface, game play and program them all to compile a game. Making a game is full of fun, passion, hard work and diligence. A piece of advice for you- don’t think of making big game like DOOM or Max Payne in the beginning. Set a reasonable goal. Try to think up something you can do by yourself. Try to keep your first game ideas simple. Start with small games and gradually you’ll be able to make huge games.
I have compiled this book by taking inputs from various books, websites, magazines, encyclopedia and interviews. I have tried to present the things in a simpler manner as I think it would be your first book on game development and incidentally, this is the first book I have ever compiled.
